QUESTION OF THE WEEK: What are the rights and responsibilities of the teachers in Peek-A-Books! Centre? The rights and responsibilities of teachers, parents/guardians and children/pupils attending Peek-A-Books! Centre are set forth in the House Rules. According to the House Rules: TEACHER HAS THE RIGHT: • to be treated with respect and kindness; • to work in a clean and safe environment; • to not answer the phone during the teaching activities and after the working hours; • to express his/her concerns with regards to the center he/she is working in and with regards to the problems of a different nature that might arise during his/her work; • to not accept requests from parents, which are in breach of policies and procedures of the center; • to request a meeting with parents/guardians; • to give opinions, ideas and suggestions with regards to the teaching activities and syllabus. TEACHER HAS THE OBLIGATION: • to respect the daily schedule of activities; • to show-up for work at time; • to respect the centers working schedule; • to respect the personality of children/pupils, parents/guardians, other teachers and employees in the center; • to cooperate with children/pupils, teachers, parents/guardians and governing bodies of the center; • to perform the duty of teacher on call for certain group, if there is a need for this and if the director requests this; • to care about the documentation in the center; • to allow attendance as observers in the activities to the director of the center or inspectors from MASHT (Ministry of Education, Science and Technology); • to inform parents about the child’s day in the center; • to inform parents about any concern that the child might have had; • to inform parents about every concern he/she might have with regards to the child; • to be responsible for the duties he/she performs; • to use clear/clean language with children; • to work and develop the teaching plan according to the syllabus and to find methods of improving it; • to attend meetings with parents.
