QUESTION: Shaykh! Why do you speak out against the killing of school children by TTP, while you are silent when America and Israel kill school children? ANSWER: When America and Israel do that, it is not done in the name of Islam, and every Muslim, rather every sane person, condemns it…My speaking out against it would not benefit Muslims or teach them anything new… but yes, if I had the reigns of political power in my hands, I could have said or done something purposeful about it… but I dont… On the other hand when someone who claims to represent Islam does something horrendous, he is tarnishing my religion and turning people away from it… and here it becomes my obligation, as a student of knowledge, to defend my religion against such crimes being wrongfully attributed to it… so I have to speak out, and it will In Sha Allah benefit Muslims (and even non-Muslims) in two ways: 1. Prevent people from turning away from Islam due to such acts. 2. Guide those who might have a soft-corner for such groups or try to justify their crimes in any way
