QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FOR THE DAY and WRONG COMMENTS AND RIGHT ANSWERS FOR THE DAY on TITHING QUESTION: Brother Jay, could you please explain Biblical tithing? When I was in mainstream Christianity we always followed the rule of giving 10% of our increase without even truly understanding what and why we were doing it. Then I started actually reading what the Bible says. The tithe was for the temple and the Levitical priesthood, neither of which are in operation today. Your father mentioned tithing in passing today, so now I am not so certain I understand this as I should. Also, we have no fellowship that a tithe would go to, if in fact that is what we are commanded to do. Thank you. ANSWER: Now in the world it is done wrong 100% . We are not to pay for luxury homes and make people million airs. In the world today it is just a business for the most part. There are just a very few Assemblies out there that are actually doing this the right way. Tithing is still a command that has never been done away with. Just because there is no Temple doesnt mean that we stop tithing to the places that are listed in scripture and these places are easy to pick out. Tithing was done before the temples existed. Gen 14:18 And Malkitseḏeq sovereign of Shalĕm brought out bread and wine. Now he was the priest of the Most High Ěl. Gen 14:19 And he blessed him and said, “Blessed be Aḇram of the Most High Ěl, Possessor of the heavens and earth. Gen 14:20 “And blessed be the Most High Ěl who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” And he gave him a tenth of all. So not just Abrahm tithed but Jacob did also. Gen 28:20 And Yaʽaqoḇ made a vow, saying, “Seeing Elohim is with me, and has kept me in this way that I am going, and has given me bread to eat and a garment to put on – Gen 28:21 when I have returned to my father’s house in peace, and יהוה has been my Elohim, Gen 28:22 then this stone which I have set as a standing column shall be Elohim’s house, and of all that You give me, I shall certainly give a tenth to You.” ..... Now besides this we know that offerings were given all the way back to Cain and Able.Gen 4:3 And it came to be, in the course of time, that Qayin brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to יהוה. Gen 4:4 And Heḇel also brought of the first-born of his flock and of their fat. And יהוה looked to Heḇel and his offering, So there didnt have to be a temple to give offerings to Yah either. They were just given. Because the true system of tithes and offerings has been abused it has made people stop doing this altogether. Here are a few other examples of offerings Lev_5:11 ‘But if he is unable to bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons, then he who sinned shall bring for his offering one-tenth of an ĕphah of fine flour as a sin offering. He puts no oil on it, nor does he put any frankincense on it, for it is a sin offering. Lev_6:20 “This is the offering of Aharon and his sons, which they bring near to יהוה, beginning on the day when he is anointed: one-tenth of an ĕphah of fine flour as a daily grain offering, half of it in the morning and half of it at night. Lev_14:21 “But if he is poor and is unable to afford it, then he shall take one male lamb as a guilt offering to be waved, to make atonement for him, and one-tenth of an ĕphah of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering, and a log of oil, Gen_31:54 And Yaʽaqoḇ brought an offering on the mountain, and called his brothers to eat bread. And they ate bread and spent the night on the mountain. Gen_35:14 And Yaʽaqoḇ set up a standing column in the place where He had spoken with him, a monument of stone. And he poured a drink offering on it, and he poured oil on it. Exo_18:12 Then Yithro, the father-in-law of Mosheh, brought a burnt offering and other slaughterings unto Elohim. And Aharon came with all the elders of Yisra’ĕl to eat bread with the father-in-law of Mosheh before Elohim. So we have established there doesnt need to be a temple in place for tithes and offerings to be given. Let us read this other really great Scriptures here. Deu 26:10 ‘And now, see, I have brought the first-fruits of the land which You, O יהוה, have given me.’ Then you shall place it before יהוה your Elohim, and bow down before יהוה your Elohim, Deu 26:11 and shall rejoice in all the good which יהוה your Elohim has given to you and your house, you and the Lĕwite and the stranger who is among you. Deu 26:12 “When you have completed tithing all the tithe of your increase in the third year, which is the year of tithing, and have given it to the Lĕwite, to the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, and they have eaten within your gates and have been satisfied, Deu 26:13 then you shall say before יהוה your Elohim, ‘I have put away the set-apart portion from my house, and also have given it to the Lĕwite, and to the stranger, and to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all Your command which You have commanded me. I have not transgressed Your commands, nor have I forgotten. Deu 26:14 ‘I have not eaten any of it when in mourning, nor have I removed any of it for any unclean use, nor given any of it for the dead. I have obeyed the voice of יהוה my Elohim, I have done according to all that You have commanded me. Deu 26:15 ‘Look from Your set-apart dwelling place, from the heavens, and bless Your people Yisra’ĕl and the land which You have given us, as You swore to our fathers, “a land flowing with milk and honey.” ’ Deu 26:16 “Today יהוה your Elohim is commanding you to do these laws and right-rulings. And you shall guard and do them with all your heart and with all your being. Deu 26:17 “You have today caused יהוה to proclaim to be your Elohim, and to walk in His ways and guard His laws, and His commands, and His right-rulings, and to obey His voice. Deu 26:18 “And יהוה has caused you to proclaim today to be His people, a treasured possession, as He has spoken to you, and to guard all His commands, Deu 26:19 so as to set you high above all nations which He has made, for a praise, and for a name, and for esteem, and for you to be a set-apart people to יהוה your Elohim, as He has spoken.” So we can see there is such a blessing in tithing if we do it and if we do it the right way! WRONG COMMENTS AND CORRECT ANSWERS FOR THE DAY Wrong Comment: Tithing was not based on money and it is to be used to feed the widows and orphans. The Levitical concept is not applicable now. Paul worked. Correct Answers For The Day: Just because Paul/Sha’ul worked doesn’t mean that it has been done away with. Some of it was __________, but most of it was food that went into store houses. Not everyone was a farmer. We had lots of people that still worked in service type positions. Seams dress, a silver smith, irons smith, wine makers, olive oil makers, tent makers and animal herders of all types, the list goes on and on if you just think about it. The produce it fed the priests, the poor, the widows, the fatherless, the sojourner and others on Feast days! So did some of the animal offerings! When a place was too far to go for the Feast Days then people sold their food, livestock and such and took the money with them, usually it was silver. Other times they would have had silver also that they gave. If you want me to give you the scriptures for it I can. No place in scripture did Yahushua Messiah tell us to stop Tithing and neither did any one of the 12 or Sha’ul ______ so it still applies. If you dont do it then you have no money to go to the Sukkot/Tabernacles with. These are the people begging other people for money to go to Sukkot/Feast of Tabernacles. Show me a verse that says we are to no longer tithe. Just because people worked doesnt mean that Tithing was abolished. You are putting way too much speculation into it. I personally dont ask people for money or Tithes, but I dont have a problem with it being done the right way in other ministries. There is a right way and a wrong way to do it. I spoke about this actually yesterday on one of my Radio Shows in fact. I talked about some of the proper ways of Tithing. What most people like yourself fail to put into the equation is that most people are not farmers today. We have moved away from an agricultural society to a service society where people have money and they dont have food or live stock to give as a Tithe. So that is why it is more in money these days and not in Food as it was before. WE are commanded three times a year in addition to our 10th and a 10th to give another free will offering and not come empty before Father Yah three times a year. Do you really think you have the Authority to tell me and other people that this has been abolished? Deu 16:16 “Three times a year all your males appear before יהוה your Elohim in the place which He chooses: at the Festival of Unleavened Bread, and at the Festival of Weeks, and at the Festival of Booths. And none should appear before יהוה empty-handed, Deu 16:17 but each one with the gift of his hand, according to the blessing of יהוה your Elohim which He has given you. This is another form of worship to the Father. You want to try and teach others this is not valid? We might as well say that we dont need to keep the Sabbath and the other Set-Apart Days too while we are at it. Here you _______: Deu 14:24 “But when the way is too long for you, so that you are not able to bring the tithe, or when the place where יהוה your Elohim chooses to put His Name is too far from you, when יהוה your Elohim is blessing you, Deu 14:25 then you shall give it in silver, and shall take the silver in your hand and go to the place which יהוה your Elohim chooses. Deu 14:26 “And you shall use the silver for whatever your being desires: for cattle or sheep, for wine or strong drink, for whatever your being desires. And you shall eat there before יהוה your Elohim, and you shall rejoice, you and your household. Deu 14:27 “And do not forsake the Lĕwite who is within your gates, for he has no part nor inheritance with you. Deu 14:28 “At the end of every third year you bring out all the tithe of your increase of that year and store it up within your gates. Deu 14:29 “And the Lĕwite, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you, and the sojourner and the fatherless and the widow who are within your gates, shall come and eat and be satisfied, so that יהוה your Elohim does bless you in all the work of your hand which you do. Shalom to you. Wrong Comments: Are pastors Lewites now? There was a reason that they were cared for. Right Answers: So should they not be cared for is that what you are saying? Pastors/Ministers dont have to be a Levite to receive a tithe. Where is that written? Please show me_____________ Have you heard of the Fivefold ministry? Is the Fivefold ministry to go without anything and pay for everything out of their own pocket? Some can, but if you are doing a larger scale work then you cant. I personally pay for everything I do out of my own pocket, but if people did Tithe to me I could do so much more. I am not going to ask people for it though. I personally dont feel comfortable doing that. I feel the Father can put it on their heart if he wants me doing more. People should know what scripture says and they can do what they want with their first tithe. Sometimes people do give me money and I am greatly appreciated when they do. I dont go without though.. Father Yah takes very good care of me. I personally am not able to work a regular job because of a disability. 1Co_12:28 And Elohim has appointed these in the assembly: firstly emissaries, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, ministrations, kinds of tongues. Eph_4:11 And He Himself gave some as emissaries, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as shepherds and teachers. You also have some that this is all they can do, because of a disability. Some are called into this and ordained or appointed some are self-appointed and you want to watch out for those guys, because they are usually not doing things the right way in many areas. 1Ti 5:17 Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double respect, especially those who labour in the word and teaching. 1Ti 5:18 For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain,” and, “The labourer is worthy of his wages.” ..... What does that sound like? That sounds like it is a good thing to give money to those who labor in the word. Many ministers, pastors/elders whatever you want to call them work all day in the ministry of reconciliation for Father Yah, Yahushua/Yahshua Messiah, along with those they send their way and this is all they do. Some are older and cant work. So you think these people should just starve because of people like you who say they shouldnt receive a tithe and the Levitical tithing doesn’t apply anymore today? I run into other people that feel this same way so you are not alone in feeling this way, but it is not backed by scripture. With those that will come against teaching and commands like this that are backed 100% by scripture we need to remember what we have been instructed to do. 1Ti 6:3 If anyone teaches differently and does not agree to the sound words, those of our Master יהושע Messiah, and to the teaching which is according to reverence, 1Ti 6:4 he is puffed up, understanding none at all, but is sick about questionings and verbal battles from which come envy, strife, slander, wicked suspicions, 1Ti 6:5 worthless disputes of men of corrupt minds and deprived of the truth, who think that reverence is a means of gain – withdraw from such. 1Ti 6:6 But reverence with contentment is great gain. 1Ti 6:7 For we brought naught into the world, and it is impossible to take any out. People wanting to hold onto their money not wanting to give tithes or offerings it will do them no good! 1Ti 6:8 When we have food and covering, we shall be satisfied with these. 1Ti 6:9 But those wishing to be rich fall into trial and a snare, and into many foolish and injurious lusts which plunge men in ruin and destruction. 1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some, by longing for it, have strayed from the belief, and pierced themselves through with many pains. 1Ti 6:11 But you, O man of Elohim, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, reverence, belief, love, endurance, meekness. 1Ti 6:12 Fight the good fight of the belief, lay hold on everlasting life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession before many witnesses. 1Ti 6:13 In the sight of Elohim who gives life to all, and of Messiah יהושע who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, I charge you: 1Ti 6:14 that you guard the command1 spotlessly, blamelessly, until the appearing of our Master יהושע Messiah, Footnote: 1Command (singular) often means commands, e.g. Dt. 17:20, Ps. 19:8. 1Ti 6:15 which in His own seasons He shall reveal – the blessed and only Ruler, the Sovereign of sovereigns and Master of masters, 1Ti 6:16 who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or is able to see, to whom be respect and everlasting might. Amĕn. 1Ti 6:17 Charge those who are rich in this present age not to be high-minded, nor to trust in the uncertainty of riches, but in the living Elohim, who gives us richly all for enjoyment, 1Ti 6:18 to do good, to be rich in good works,1 to be generous, ready to share, Footnote: 1Mt. 16:27. 1Ti 6:19 storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, so that they lay hold on everlasting life. 2Th 3:6 But we command you, brothers, in the Name of our Master יהושע Messiah, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which you received from us. 2Th 3:7 For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, for we were not disorderly among you, 2Th 3:8 nor did we eat anyone’s bread without paying for it, but worked with labour and toil night and day, in order not to burden any of you, 2Th 3:9 not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example, for you to imitate us. So right here he is saying they had Authority, this is talking about asking for tithes or food, because they were men who worked in the word. This is what they are talking about. So how are we to tithe today? We do it the same way. We are to take 10% for 1st tithe from what we make after taxes or if you are self-employed on what you pay yourself or what you feel your increase is. Then you take another 10% for 2nd tithe so you can go to the Feast Days/Appointed times. Now your 1st tithe should go to the stranger, to the fatherless, to the widows, the poor and whatever ministry you feel is doing a good job of preaching the true word of Father Yah to others, because there are so many false teachers out there that are just about the money and nothing else. Ministries that are only using a small part of it for themselves if they need it to take care of their basic needs and not trying to live extravagantly with it. That is if they use any of it at all and not using all of it for ministry work. Now you save another 10% of your increase that is called 2nd tithe, to go to Unleavened Bread if you can the Sukkot / Feast of Tabernacles or other feast days. It is really a very simple thing that so many groups try to complicate. If you don’t do 2nd tithe then you don’t get the blessing of going to the Feast days and they are a blessing to go to, to be around other likeminded people. This can charge you for the rest of the year going through the pagan season until they start all over again. This is something you want to make sure you can be a part of. If you are not a part of this then you are not set-apart, you do not have the sign of being one of his people as he has said in many different places and one of his chosen people or as he says “His inheritance”. Now days most all churches, Assemblies and Congregations do not go according to scripture when it comes to Tithing, it just a business for them. They do not go through the scriptures that really explain Tithing and how it was done. They are stealing money from so many people in the name of our creator. If you are being guilt-led into giving money each week into the collection plate, you are being ripped off in the name of the Father and the Son. This is not how Tithing was done. It was mostly all food and not money, some was money though. They didnt own big buildings, planes and many cars. There is nothing wrong with giving money, because most of us are not farmers and it is the only way we have to give a Tithe. Otherwise how would we give a tithe? We wouldn’t be able to and this goes against Yah’s laws. Yah will put it on people’s hearts to give what is needed to those that are really truthfully doing his work and asking him what they should give. Father loves a cheerful giver. People should be holding on to their 1st tithes and giving them to people or places that they feel will use the money for the right purposes. Normally tithes were only given on Festivals and the main tithe and offerings three times a year as this was when their harvests were so they knew how much to give. People go on these money drives and just beg and beg for money from people. This is not the example that we have in scripture at all. I am just a servant messenger of Yah’s truth and a servant to all those he sends my way to serve, all glory, honor and praise be to him. I am an ordained/appointed minister. I do not rip people off and use tithes for my own gain or beyond a basic need that I might have. I really only use them for things that further the kingdom when people give them to me, but I don’t really ask for them. I think I have only used some once or twice for some basic need and not to by an airplane or big building. You need to feel that you want to give them to the ministry that Father Yah has me doing or the ministry you feel comfortable with that you really think would use the money properly. You will never hear me begging for money. If I ever do a post asking for a donation it is going to be for a specific cause, but I hardly ever even do this. I have only done it once and no one donated money so I took it as the Father had it covered. For example the things that I do use tithe money for. There are people in areas that don’t have an elder/minister/pastor to immerse them in the right way using the true names. So I have used the money for gas to get there. I don’t use the money for food, because I would have to eat anyway. I have gone to marry people in other states. Again it cost money for gas. I only live on social security. I can’t afford it to pay for the gas. I use my own tithe money to pay for Live broad casting Video messages a few times a month, for archiving them, Audio recordings of the same messages and archiving of them also. Many people don’t have the bandwidth to watch the video’s so I have the Audio for that. This all cost money. This is for people all over the world. We have people in about over 100 countries that listen off and on. Now as for third tithe this was also 10% paid every 3rd and 6th year in a 7year cycle. Now days we pay so much in taxes that a good portion of those taxes goes to Social Services programs like Food Stamps and Medicaid/Medicare that we really don’t do 3rd tithe anymore. I don’t know of any Assemblies or Congregations that are asking for 3rd tithe anymore because of this. So this is how I have tithed in years past and we have always been blessed tithing to Father Yah. Now we tithe a little more than this to 2nd tithe so we have money to go to the feast with, because otherwise we wouldn’t be able to go with the money we make now. I was disabled a few years ago and I am now on SSI. It was as if the Father said to me “I want you working for me now and not for yourself”. My wife works a few days a week with a cleaning/care taking business that she owns. We are very blessed and always have our needs taken care of. We also have first fruits tithe. The first fruits of the crops or trees are to be given to the Assembly/Yah. Lev_27:30 ‘And all the tithe of the land – of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree – belongs to יהוה. It is set-apart to יהוה. Lev_27:32 ‘And the entire tithe of the herd and of the flock, all that passes under the rod, the tenth one is set-apart to יהוה. Num_18:26 “Speak to the Lĕwites and say to them, ‘When you take from the children of Yisra’ĕl the tithes which I have given you from them as your inheritance, then you shall present a contribution of it to יהוה, a tenth of the tithe. Deu_12:17 “You are not allowed to eat within your gates the tithe of your grain, or of your new wine, or of your oil, or of the firstlings of your herd or your flock, or of any of your offerings which you vow, or of your voluntary offerings, or of the contribution of your hand. Deu_14:22 “You shall tithe without fail all the yield of your grain that the field brings forth year by year. Deu_14:23 “And you shall eat before יהוה your Elohim, in the place where He chooses to make His Name dwell, the tithe of your grain and your new wine and your oil, and of the firstlings of your herds and your sheep, so that you learn to fear יהוה your Elohim always. Deu_14:24 “But when the way is too long for you, so that you are not able to bring the tithe, or when the place where יהוה your Elohim chooses to put His Name is too far from you, when יהוה your Elohim is blessing you, Deu_14:28 “At the end of every third year you bring out all the tithe of your increase of that year and store it up within your gates. Deu_26:12 “When you have completed tithing all the tithe of your increase in the third year, which is the year of tithing, and have given it to the Lĕwite, to the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, and they have eaten within your gates and have been satisfied, 2Ch_31:5 And as the word spread, the children of Yisra’ĕl brought large quantities of the first-fruits of grain and wine, and oil and honey, and of all the increase of the field. And they brought in the tithe of all, a large amount. 2Ch_31:6 And the children of Yisra’ĕl and Yehuḏah, those who dwelt in the cities of Yehuḏah, brought the tithe of cattle and sheep. Even the tithe of set-apart gifts which were set apart to יהוה their Elohim were brought in, and they gave heaps, heaps. Neh_13:12 And all Yehuḏah brought the tithe of the grain and the new wine and the oil to the storehouse. Mal_3:8 “Would a man rob Elohim? Yet you are robbing Me! But you said, ‘In what have we robbed You?’ In the tithe and the offering! I hope this gave you a better understanding of true tithing and what we really should do with it, along with the types of Assemblies/Congregations or ministries that you should be giving to. Much Love and Shalom to you all, Brother jay
