QUOTE In one of the largest and most meticulous studies ever, researchers discovered over a 35-year period that: 1) annual mammography in women aged 40-59 does not reduce mortality from breast cancer. 2) 22% of mammography-detected invasive breast cancers were over diagnosed. Over diagnosed was defined as a cancer that would not have any effect on a woman in her lifetime. And 3) The date from the study strongly suggest that the value of mammography screening should be reassessed. There is no substitute for awareness on the part of women of the feel of their normal breast tissue and an intimate knowledge of their cycle, including awareness of ovulation. Fiat, debt-based money corrupts every profession, including---unfortunately-----medicine. We are dramatically over diagnosed and fed misinformation. What comes immediately to mind is the scam of low fat diets promoted over the last three to four decades, which result in nutritional deficiencies of fat-soluble vitamins, and no reduction in heart disease rates.
