QVMAG is delighted to invite you to the Art and Dementia Training Workshop in collaboration with the National Gallery of Australia and Alzheimers Australia as part of the NGAs Art and Alzheimers Outreach Program. Its a specialised training workshop that aims to bring together staff of your local gallery or museum, local health care providers and other interested parties to establish a program of gallery art tours for people living with dementia in your region. Such a program of gallery tours provides people living with dementia an opportunity to connect with the world in enriching and life-enhancing ways. A discussion based tour of works of art provides intellectual stimulation and social inclusion which improves the quality of life for people living with dementia. Run by NGA educators involved in running the Art and Alzheimer’s Program, the workshop will draw on the knowledge and expertise of the attendees and fosters the necessary partnerships to build a sustainable program in your local gallery. Made possible by the WD Booth Charitable Trusts generous support, the Training Workshops is free of charge. It will be held at QVMAG Art Gallery, 2 Wellington Street, Launceston. Places are limited (25 only) and bookings are essential. Please contact QVMAG Public Programs Coordinator Belinda Cotton on 6323 3706 or [email protected].
