QiGong anyone? Everyone seems to Love QiGong! Whenever I post a qigong workout, it gets so many views. Every time someone facebook messages me about yoga they always drop that they also Love qigong. Im a pretty honest person, so I will tell you, as of now... I do not Love qigong. I Love yoga, but I REALLY LIKE qigong. Im hoping for this to change, but for now, for me, qigong doesnt give me what yoga gives me, but Im still totally open to it... and I really do LIKE it, so Id like to give it more of a chance. When I was researching fascia a few months back, it seemed to me like yoga, qi gong and tai chi were all great styles of refining the fascial layers. The slow movements of qi gong and tai chi appear to be very gentle ways of stretching these layers, without overstretching. However, keep in mind, that it takes much longer to affect your fascial layers than it does to affect your muscles. Researchers have advised that it can take anywhere between 6 and 24 months before you notice any changes! If we are in pain... forever... why not just start now? This 40 minute practice with Cain Carroll begins with an all over body shaking. I felt so goofy for the first few minutes until I realized, this IS affecting me! Put your ego aside and shake the tension out of every part of your body, from your lips, through your hips and feet. Your body harmonizes to a singular vibration and it feels gggggreat. Im still feeling the effect, and its hours later! The 2nd half consists of some postures in which you ground down but then rise up with your breath. Dont focus on the grounding down part. Once you feel stable, focus on the expansion with your breath. Cains guidance couldnt be better. For some reason, I often walk away from qigong with a pain in my knee, but it only lasts for about 2 minutes and then Im on my way. Just wanted to throw that out there for anyone with serious knee issues, to be careful, or to just skip altogether. Theres a spot in my heart for qigong, and its growing. As I learn more about the subtle layers of myself I realize these gentle exercises were designed to invoke or awaken these energies. So when you practice qigong, dont expect a strong effect like an American workout. Tap into your feminine, Eastern side and discover the treasures there. grok.kr/H714R2
