Quail is a fast growing bird with short generation interval therefore a good tool to alleviate poverty, generate employment among the urban and rural dwellers as it did not require huge startup investments in infrastructure. It is easy and less demanding than chicken. It also offers quick financial cycles that lead to quicker returns. Japanese quails are hardy birds that thrive well in small cages and are inexpensive to keep. Quails start producing eggs at about 6 weeks of age and continue to give high egg production up to 24 weeks of age. It is a good source of meat and eggs with high biological value.
