#QuakerBoy Pro Staff member Jake Markris laid down this unbelievable buck Monday! Check out the full story and what it scored below! “Better lucky than good should be the title to this story. I left Fairhope Monday morning November 17th with no intention of hunting that afternoon. My plane would land too late to hunt. When I arrived in Atlanta for my connecting flight I learned that the early flight to Kansas City was delayed and still boarding. I ran to the desk and was able to catch that flight getting me to KC two hours earlier than planned. My mind started turning immediately on what farm to hunt. On my way to the house I spoke to my good friend and farmer who told me about a huge buck he saw the afternoon before. The way he described it there was not a chance I was going anywhere else. He said and I quote its the biggest deer Ive seen in my life. I didnt think we had genetics like that here. To say I was excited was an understatement. I pulled up to the house, changed clothes and jumped in the truck headed to my favorite farm. I made my way to the stand and crawled in for the last few hours of the day. When I arrived the wind was blowing for the WNW at about 25 mph with heavy snow flurries. Not sure ideal is the word, but I was just happy to be in the woods so the conditions didnt bother me. As the afternoon wore on I saw a small buck chasing a doe in the timber and two other small does. Things were very slow. I had all but given up when out of nowhere I hear a deer grunt. I looked up and a buck had run a doe out of the timber and into a small clover field on the edge of the creek. I picked up my glasses and was blown away by the frame and long tines he carried. I immediately picked up my gun, put the crosshairs on his shoulder and squeezed off a shot. He never took another step. I couldnt stand it as I climbed down and ran over to see the biggest deer of my life. I have a 184 and 173 from the same area and he completely blew me away. He has 16 points looks to be 5.5-6.5 years old. I have yet to put a tape to him, but will take care of that tomorrow.” Jake Markris scored him last night at 195 4/8” #QBprostaff #whitetail #hunting #hugebuck
