Qucik update from Thomas Cook Ireland on the situation in Egypt. Dear Colleague, Following recent events in Egypt, we are continuing to monitor the situation in Cairo and other locations, working in close collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). The DFA travel advice remains unchanged, with the Red Sea tourist area including Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada unaffected and operating as normal, bar an evening curfew in Sharm el Sheikh that was introduced last night (14th August 2013) and observed. Our experienced teams on the ground have confirmed no tourist areas have been further impacted and that our customers continue to enjoy these popular resorts. The Red Sea resorts are a considerable distance from Cairo (400 km/8 hours). As we will continue to operate our flying and holiday programme to Red Sea destinations, normal booking conditions apply should any customer wish to amend or cancel, (no amendments to a booking within 4 weeks of departure). However, we can confirm that we have cancelled excursions from the Red Sea resorts to Cairo, Luxor, Moses Mountain and St Catherine’s Monastery until further notice. The Department of Foreign Affairs are constantly reviewing their policy and updates can be found on their website dfa.ie. Any further updates will be posted on this website accordingly and we will keep our agents updated should the situation change. In the meantime, we would like to thank you for your continued support.
