Queenie and I were both bridesmaids in my friend Neethus wedding. Neethu had told me ahead of time about Queenie and how she thinks we would get along really well -- she couldnt have been more right. We actually interacted before the wedding because we both needed to stay at the hotel for the night and Neethu recommended we share a room (she was almost like a friend matchmaker). We hit it off immediately, hung out the entire wedding, and stayed up late chatting in the hotel room afterwards. I had been looking for jobs in the Bay Area and wanted to move from the East Coast to SF -- Queenie was of course extremely encouraging. Every time I came out to SF she would offer to let me stay at her house, make fun plans for us, and overall just went above & beyond to make me feel welcome. After several months of searching & interviewing I finally landed a job in SF. Queenie was thrilled -- last week we started making plans about what we should do together my first weekend in the Bay Area. I am still in utter shock that I will be attending her funeral my first weekend here. Queenie, I was so excited to move here and go on new adventures with you. Your vivacious personality, your kind heart, your thoughtful gestures -- you are one of a kind, Queenie Kwan. I am so happy we became, hotel BFFs, as she called us. Words cant express how saddened the world is by your loss.
