#Queensland #Weather #SeverWarning #QLD #CTCorp 6:42pm Update:~~SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for DESTRUCTIVE WIND and LARGE HAILSTONES For people in the Wide Bay and Burnett and parts of the Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Northwest, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast Forecast Districts. Issued at 6:42 pm Wednesday, 17 December 2014. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce destructive winds and large hailstones over the next several hours in the Wide Bay and Burnett and parts of the Southeast Coast districts. Locations which may be affected include Maroochydore, Gympie, Bundaberg and Kingaroy. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds over the next several hours in parts of the Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Northwest, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts. Locations which may be affected include Hughenden, Richmond, Roma and Carnarvon National Park. A 115km/h wind gust was recorded at Kingaroy at 5:45pm. A 93km/h wind gust was recorded at Julia Creek at 4:00pm. A wind gust of approximately 100km/h was recorded at Roma at 4:30pm. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 9:45 pm. At 6:42 pm Wednesday, 17 December 2014 a separate, more detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning was current for the Southeast Queensland area (east of Dalby from Rainbow Beach to Stanthorpe). Refer to this product for more information. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureaus website at bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 219. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
