Quentin has traveled from France become a Cove Guardian and be a voice for the dolphins. Operation Infinite Patience is my first participation in a wildlife conservation mission, and it will be engraved in my heart for my whole life. Taiji is one of those places where it is not good to be, but marks you forever. The whole city seems to breathe for whaling with all these statues, museums, pens and resorts praising the slaughter and capture of mammals for human entertainment. What happens here is beyond understanding; the slaughter and captivity of dolphins is the most horrible thing I have ever seen. It does not match with what I have seen of Japan, with the very kind people I have met during my travel in the country to get to Taiji. Nor does it match what I have known of Japanese values through their culture and by practicing martial arts. It does not even match with the most basic logic. It is pure nonsense and greedy horror, with no tradition. Infinite Patience was my very first operation as an activist for animals, and it will not be the last one. Whatever we had to endure, this experience made me angrier against animal abuses and even more willing to make it change. Watching this with my own eyes definitely changed my way of seeing the world. The picture of a man brutalizing a dolphin as he grabbed her tail, tied her to a boat, and then drove her under tarps for slaughter, will never get out of my mind. And it is only one nightmarish scene amongst many others. Cetaceans are mammals that share lot of other similarities with us. Slaughtering a dolphin is the equivalent of torture to one of our siblings. There is no place for this in humanity. It must end; there is no other alternative at all. If you want to act, please consider joining the crew in Taiji. Dolphins need us - all of us - as long as the slaughter will continue.
