Question - From Ab-Mad Aberdeen FC forum To - DST (Dons Supporters Together) donssupporterstogether/ “Does the DST have a view about the semi-final being at Tynecastle with regards to not enough tickets being available to Dons Fans? Have you contacted the club about this matter, as I sent them an email a week ago and have yet to get a reply? Also there doesnt seem to have been any comment on the website, or in the press, seems to be heads in the sand from AFC!” ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DST has made representation to AFC but does any DST member have a view on the subject, that should additionally be brought to the attention of AFC? If so contact DST through the web site: - donssupporterstogether/ From AFC’s reply to us, whilst discussions are on-going, it appears very doubtful that there will be any change to the venues for the current two semis. Whilst we certainly have the better time, the other option of Easter Road would have permitted approximately another 4k tickets to AFC fans. Tynecastle is only able to take 17k and if that is split 50/50 to only the clubs then it is 8500 and we now have over 8k season ticket holders, given the surge of 100+ since the venue was announced. Given previous semi-finals its safe to say we would take more than 12K to the game and so, as it stands, a lot of fans are going to be shut out again which is ludicrous in this day and age when the Scottish game is crying out for bigger crowds. Another option should have been Glasgow, as its not that much further than Edinburgh for both teams. As Hampden is unavailable, why not ask for Parkhead or Ibrox - yes, it wont be filled but everyone who wants a ticket would get one. AFC could push for all tickets to go to the clubs only, and not to third parties, and also argue for 12/5 or 11/6 split. Precedent would suggest it is unlikely to be agreed, but it is worthy of debate and presentation. Hearts FC, and their fans, seem to be the only winners of the 4 clubs, as (allegedly) they refused to go to Pittodrie for their game, and pushed for Tynecastle as one venue, with the resultant advantages of collecting extra rent and have reduced travel costs for what is now basically a home game for them given what the (limited) ICT fans will have to do. So, what is your take on this situation, with our AFC interests at heart, and do you have any additional suggestions on how the ticketing arrangements could be best (fair) handled given a change of venue is highly unlikely?
