Question- my vet was out to give my TWH gelding of 18 months his Fall shots. dr. Carter said River was over weight and could colic. I feed grow right with 3 quarts am and pm. he is in pasture all day and I do ground work 2 x a day. I just started putting in 1 flake of Timothy/alphalfa per day. he wants me to cut his Grow Right to 2 quarts each feeding and change over to coastal hay. using tape measure he is 14.2 and 800 lbs. Am I endangering him to colic or harmful grow issues?? Please advise and be kind:) This is my first horse since childhood and we had a barn manager who did it all! My job was to love and ride which I did with abandon!
