Question : Do you understand fans’ frustrations when it comes to signing players? Ed Woodward : “If I didn’t, but I do, but if I didn’t, i’d be reminded about of it, every single time I see a fan because no, ‘hello, how are you?’ doesn’t start with the conversation, the start of the conversation is ‘are you signing X?’, and of course I understand that, and that’s what every fan wants, 99% of things I do, they have no interest in, it’s transfers and I completely get that, and there’s a lot of media speculation about players we’re linked too, I did some analysis a couple of years ago, one summer we were linked to 250 players, 250, and I think that year we bought 3, so 1% roughly of the players we were linked to, we actually buy, and that’s just the reality of the situation so everyone has different views on players, and people will be, some people will be disappointed, I think overall they will see the direction we are heading in with the new manager, the coaching staff, the new players and a committment to do what it takes to get back up to the top, we are willing to invest.”
