Question>>> How can I regain youth? Only in my dreams?? When I dream, I am young and healthy. But when I awake, I feel the pains of arthritis/old age. I am soon to have a second (right) hip replacement. But the Rheumatoid Arthritis pains will still exist, just not in the hips. I ponder about moving to Auburn for my remaining years. But I wonder if I am simply chasing a dream that will never exist. I believe I would become more active in Auburn w/AU baseball/basketball games and two new hips. I understand East Alabama Hospital provides an excellent setting for good medical care. From Auburn I can see myself visiting high school friends in PC. But those friends in PC dont even visit or see each other and who wants to see me anyhow? Are these things just illusions of youth? I do know if Linda were here, this predicament would not be. I would do whatever She wanted. But without Linda, I question my motives and their practicality. Most of you all, center your lives around the activities of your children and grandchildren. But mine are only 5, 3, & 5 mos. old and live in Charlotte and the St. Louis area. I mean, how much can I, a grandfather, do with a 5 month old baby boy 175 miles away? Coo-chi coo-chi coo and sing a song? Now, Linda would be another story totally. Her value to grandchildren would be immeasurable. Those of you, particularly men, who enjoy the privilege of having a loving spouse, should thank God. Total freedom/retirement/security is not always so great, yet outside of health I have few concerns. Perhaps that is the problem. Where is youth with its many worries, responsibilities, concerns, activity, anxiety, unknowns, struggles, companionship, rewards, achievements, pride, growth, comfort, fun, and unachieved goals?...BB
