Question:.....Is the soul and the spirit separate?.....Yes, according to Pauls prayer.....(some people will say they are the same).....but....even though they are very closely linked....they are different!....... Hebrews 4:12 tells us.....For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. As closely as joints and marrow are linked....and as closely as the thoughts and intents of the heart are knitted together.....so is the soul and the spirit linked (while were alive on this earth)!......But they are separate!..... Question:....When we die physically on this earth....what happens to our bodies? Our bodies are buried (or done away with somehow)....in other words.....our bodies return to the dust from which they came. Is this true for all men and women, or is there a difference between believers and non-believers?.......Its exactly the same for all men and women!....... Question:.....What happens to the persons spirit after he dies physically on this earth?.......Ecclesiastes 3:20-21 tells us.....All go unto one place; all are of the dust (speaking of anyone born of Adam), and all turn to dust again.........the verse continues...... Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth? Can we conclude from this verse......That after we die physically on this earth, when our body returns to the dust (from which it came).......Our spirit (the spirit of every man and women who die....whether they are believers or not) goes upward?......Yes!.....I think we can!......And if so....our spirit goes upward to who? Ecclesiastes 12:7 tells us......Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: (speaking of our physical death) and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. (so indeed.....our spirit does go upward, and not only upward......but returns back to God!) God gave the spirit of life to all of mankind....which gives (all mankinds) physical bodies life here on earth as we know it!...... No man or woman who has ever lived on this earth....no scientist, physician, or any man of higher learning will ever be able to answer the question.... Where does life come from?......mankind cannot answer this question without including our God in the equation.
