Question: Ive talked to a few friends about this, and now I want all of your opinions. Ive been putting off getting my knuckles, hands and side neck tattooed for 10+ years in fear that it would inhibit me from moving forward in my career in the film industry. I do have 2 full sleeve tattoos, and chest tattoos, but those are easily covered up. I digress, I used to view acting as my #1 priority. I have since put acting 3rd in line for my focus. 1. Directing, 2. Writing, 3. Acting. It is no longer my real focus. Now this puts my appearance way down the list of importance, however, I still dont want ward off an old school, money bags, investor because I have visible tattoos. Given our society is becoming less and less judgmental about tattoos (its actually considered cool and hip right now) but there are still a few old way of thinking people and Im wondering if that is even significant enough to sway the consensus. One argument a friend made was that as a director, people never judge your appearance and if they think anything about tattoos, its more of a Hes really artistic which doesnt hurt me at all. I also dont dress like a thug, or gothic, emo, a metal head, etc. and enjoy wearing a nice suit when appropriate. Couple that with my combed back hair and I dont really look that threatening. Ive wanted to get these tattoos for a really long time and Im starting to think that now might be a good time to start getting them. But I dont want it to royally screw me when Im so close to succeeding in my career goals. Thoughts Please
