Question about newsboys. Ive read a few online sites that say that newsboys did not come onto the scene until the Victorian period. I am writing Regency, of course. However, the word newsboy, according to all dictionaries I can find, dates to 1764. So, I am wondering if the idea of newsboys hawking papers is accurate for regency and if not, what the term newsboy meant during regency times? Anyone know?
