Question for my friends who are either songwriters or fans of 60s - TopicsExpress

Question for my friends who are either songwriters or fans of 60s music. Ive recently noticed a lyrical device that pops up in the Motown lyrics written by Eddie Holland (Holland-Dozier-Holland). This is a recurring use of what I believe is called anastrophe or what we might call Yoda speak. What I noticed is a tendency to reverse the normal way a phrase would be spoken. Some examples are: Free of you, Ill never be in Nowhere to Run by Martha and the Vandellas, From the boy I love I should break away in Back In My Arms Again by the Supremes, and Then weak Id rather be in Baby I Need Your Loving by the Four Tops. Can anyone confirm that this is what Im hearing? Any other examples of this device perhaps by other lyricists?
