Question from Crazyhorselady Sue Weve been raising mini herefords for several years now. So far it has been easy for us to know whose calf is whose, but now that babies are having babies, switching bulls, etc., we decided we should probably start ear tagging them. I came up with a number system, but then read that years are represented by letters (ie, 2014=B). Can someone tell me if there is a set way to put info on a tag that would tell which cow, bull and year a calf is born? Otherwise, how are ear tags done? Thanks.
