Question from Linda Bonney The question. is.. ...the area I grew up in is Blacktown, NSW and I still live in the area which I have always understood to belong to the Dharug (Darruk) people. A few years ago our local council removed the acknowledgement to country from their website and stopped all Welcome to Country ceremonies due to findings that the Dharug people were not the custodians of the area. I have tried without success to contact the Aboriginal Liaison Officer with the council but my call has still not (5 days later) been returned. Im curious to know how this will be settled, is it common place and should I continue to acknowledge Dharug country? Are you able to help answer this? Thanks Linda
