Question from a reader: We have foster son who is 10 and has been with us 3yrs...we are in the process of adopting but found out that he is eligible for enrollment with a Native American tribe...it has been since April, they have his file and they have not done anything...but have not said we can move forward. Relatives were found but have now backed away saying he has too many issues. In the meantime, we had a new child placed with us about a month ago. His SW is an absolute NIGHTMARE!! She has threatened us, intimidated us, and we have been told we are REQUIRED to provide all transports for this child. We have jobs, activities, commitments and a life. We have tried to help where possible but nothing is good enough. We were only asked questions by phone at an FTDM family meeting...lasted 6 min. No invitation to the actual meeting. She then called and said they are moving him today. So, our 10yr olds SW came out last night and said that it is common practice for a family to not accept new placements while in the adoption process. Has anyone gone through this? And how long are we expected to wait? I have a gut feeling this nightmare SW has blackballed us. Our licensor said it is something they do during adoptions so we can concentrate on our 10yr old. Something seems fishy here...
