Question from the side: ++++++++++++++++ My four year old is desperate to go to school. He first became interested when we lived in Brazil, where schooling is compulsory and the children begin very young. He is very social and our playing did not compensate for the empty playgrounds and the lines of happy school children walking around the town. This led to us leaving Brazil sooner than expected and moving to an area in Ireland with a lovely home educating community. He continued to ask for school so we joined classes, attended home schooling events, play school at home, and have nearly daily activities with a variety of children. Last week, in tears, he packed a back pack, packed a lunch, and demanded school. The local unschoolers recommended a nearby play school and I have enrolled him and he is very excited. I am feeling very uncertain though, and not very steady on my feet on how to support him. The school is very nice, but obviously it is school, and therefore different from home. It is illegal for me to send him only sometimes, although there is some leeway and I will get a warning before I push too far... Oh, I dont know what my question is.... I guess it is a request for wisdom in supporting this exploration of his, and also maybe some direction towards resources that might help me think about it and support him in a system i never expected to enter.
