This must be done in writing: Objective Reference: As per AWS D1.1. 1.4 Responsibilities 1.4.1 Engineer’s Responsibilities. The Engineer shall be responsible for the development of the contract documents that govern products or structural assemblies produced under this code. The Engineer may add to, delete from, or otherwise modify, the requirements of this code to meet the particular requirements of a specific structure. All requirements that modify this code shall be incorporated into contract documents. The Engineer shall determine the suitability of all joint details to be used in a welded assembly. Why? AWS D1.1 welder is intended for statically and cyclically loaded structure such are pipe which nothing passes inside the pipe and has no pressure of such anything. ASME IX as you know are have pipes that has gas, fluid, steam and air that passes through using all internal pressure and outside/atmospheric pressure. D1.1 welder is for D1.1 project code/standard, even Classification Society. ASME IX welder is for ASME I, III, IV, VI, VII, VIII Division 1, 2 & 3, B31 Pressure Piping like B31.1 Power Piping, B31.3 Process Piping, API 650, API 653, API 510 and etc. Need to re qualify the welder of D1.1 to ASME IX WQT. Pero if the contract allows it, dapat black and white sya, so be it. if not, re-requalify mo welder mo.
