Questions for the LTO family. How many of you have friends of race, ethnicity or religion different from your own? How often have you entertained in your home or been entertained in the home of someone of another race, ethnicity or religion? How many of you have dated/married/had a significant relationship with someone of a different race, ethnicity or religion? what type of area do you live in? Why do I ask? A dear friend recently mused that he had done none of these things and it had never really crossed his mind that he was so insular in his friendships. He lives in a small town in the Midwest where there is not a lot of diversity. I live in a highly diversified town but there are people even here who do not mix often with those different from themselves. My family has a variety of religions and my children have friends and significant others of other races than ours. During WWII, my mother, born and raised in Iowa, dated men from Africa and China while earning her masters at Columbia University. So, I am simply curious about our LTO family. Rebel
