Quick Rant about societal and therefore media and legal bias root - TopicsExpress

Quick Rant about societal and therefore media and legal bias root causes: The media meta narrative is repulsive, oppressive and structurally racist. The focus is not small amount of sporadic looting and burning an unchannled and admittedly unproductive rage expressed as uncondoned violence by a few; or the oppressive overhwleming projected fear of it. The issue is the structural inequities of opportunities giving rise to all of it. Even the abberation in how evidence and no instruction was presented to the grand jury. Not to mention a college bound 18 yr old boy was killed whose worse crime was perhaps stealing some cigarettes. And mainly because he was dehumanized and thought to be more frightening. Or for example the implied deep police training and psychological supports suggested by the fact that Wilson described Michael Brown as a demon, is dehumanizing and telling. The issue of structural differences in how revenue is generated in Ferguson, ...the 1/11,000 grand juries which see a No Bill returned as in this case ...and on and on. But these are side bars as for example Wolf Blitzer brings on MLK,iii [are you kidding me]...to say on script what his daddy would say....Que the non violence clip please. Even when he condones non violence he doesnt exactly agree with anyone charchaterizing his father 50 yrs after assassination so Wolf helps him out just barely shy of putt words in his mouth on his way to upholding this particular narrative and frame. And relatively speaking hes a decent anchor guy. Nonviolence ...thats what you want...and thats what your father would want. Side eye....Yeah maybe ....but me thinks thats really what you and your producer wants for your sound bite loop. Lest the mongrel hordes of darker people get more restless (you know theyll be a majority soon may want ethnic clelasning according to speaker of try House in Kansas....you cant makebthisbstuff up....project some fear based guilt amdneorry muchbMr. Speaker?)So lets go protect the media narrative standards and sensibilities of an oppressive dominant narrative and notion of whtiness/acceptability that also passes for American norms, and which-- except for a few grass roots and rare Academic Departments that offer the discipline of Whitness Studies --goes largely unexamined as harmful as such. And this a nation besot with diversity and cultural competence consultants who largely never include the concept and indeed the study of whitness Its not that Im or anyone isbadvocating violence but the rush to get back to protecting the frame is telling like a poker tell driven by an insecurity....which of course fear basedbthinking and decision making is. And whats worse thats all tame compared to other media. You know I did a damn Ted talk on fear driven living and decision making. White folks projecting their unexamined biases and fears into a narrative of imagined and feared black rage drives everything from our media standards and tropes and cliches to our laws. Consider this: This indictment hinged on 6 words no matter how unevenly it was botched: Did Officer have a reasonable basis to fear. Think about that. Apparently thats all we think about in our laws and in our Media. And its disgusting. How about you examine your own privilege and guilt and do your own healing amd pentinence ....or for others stop hiding in hate and fix that before you worry about whos doing what, or who might do something that frightens you or which you judge to be somehow less human...indeed about a neighborhood community or people you good have cared less about, knew of or expressed an opinion on until you dredged up your fear, hate or judgement. NEW RULE Dont talk about it unless you have legitimiately spent time working there. Andbifbyou do , you break itbyoubown it. Roll up your sleeves not in that community necessarily but one close to you like Druid Heights or Park Heights. Instead Worry about who benefits without merit or earning it, and most importantly who suffers without deserving it. Your meditation and pensivness on those subjects will help you evolve, theyve helped me. And youll be less bothersome, more productive and we can all move forward. Wherever we be on our individual leadership development continuum.
