Cllr Quinlivan was speaking today after the Taoiseach refused in the Dáil to withdraw untrue allegations he made against Sinn Féin. Maurice Quinlivan said: “In the Dáil yesterday, the Taoiseach made an allegation that people “associated” with Sinn Féin “were most insulting to ordinary people who attended a Fine Gael party meeting in Limerick.” “This was entirely untrue. Sinn Féin was not involved in the anti-Water Charges protest in Limerick on Monday. There were no Sinn Féin banners at that protest. No Sinn Féin members were abusive to anyone. “The Taoiseach is lying. He needs to withdraw these allegations against Sinn Féin, which are a desperate attempt to demonise anti-Water Charge protesters.”
