Quick takes from Dizzy 2014: 3:30 alarm...28F at the house...24F on the mountain...barn unlocked at 4 (thank you ken and his staff)...eventual 50 mile winner (David Dye) helped me unload my car at 4:30( I love trail runners!)...Mass arrival of runners at 5:30...runners taking over pavilion...it looks like a big family reunion(again, I love trail runners)...packet pick up...lost a grand slam shirt...feeling stressed...finally got a fire started....Chad checked course, flags and tape still in place...runners to the start......quick prayer...thank God for this glorious day....forgot most of my announcements....antique musket to start(received complaints from campers...love it..will add more powder to the musket next year)... they are off!....the beginning aromas of chicken noodle soup...runners coming in and going out....smiles all around...huddling by the fire...spectators becoming volunteers (thank you all)...A barefoot child(not kidding)....ahhh,sunshine and a little warmth...love seeing my friends run and their dedication...a waitlister wins the 50k...always a brides maid from Arab....an EPIC battle for the womens 50k title!...so many first time finishers...more PRs than I can count..chicken noodle soup and beer flowing...race stories and good vibes all around...a party in the woods...40 and 50 milers heading back out...the dedication....a few tears, pain and happiness.....smokin fast 40 and 50 mile times..high five Dave and ask if he could help me reload my car...Courtney looks like she just took a stroll around the block...incredible day....breaking down and putting things away till.. next year! I am truly blessed to share this day with each of you and I walk away with so many life memories! I thank all of the volunteers, sweepers, family and friends that pitched in and made this such a special day.
