Quick update. Got home on Friday, first night home is always a kind of rough. You are still on hospital time and just dont rest that much. Saturday was really rough, my muscles, joints, and skin all ached from coming off the steroids. Also had nausea and chills, so I spent most of the day trying to sleep it off. Sunday I still felt pretty bad, take more meds and do more sleeping. I really missed going to church, but just wasnt up to it. Monday we went to Dr Shahs in Tifton for bloodwork. WBC is dropping, platelets were low but still did not require any blood. I finally started feeling better Monday and by yesterday I was pretty much back to as much of normal as is possible. One of the nurses realized that I love the outdoors, so she hooked me up with some heavy duty chemo gloves. She said if my numbers were good and I wear a mask and the gloves I can go fishing. I put it to the test yesterday. I forgot my gloves but Jenn took the one I caught off the hook and threw it back for me. Now to figure out how to go hunting. I also climbed up on the new tractor and gave it a good going over. Felt good to drive it, even if it was just around the yard at the shelter. This not being able to farm is awful. Im not complaining though. Every time I go to the cancer center and hospital at Emory, and see all the folks that are in so much worse shape than me, I hush my complaining and realize just how blessed I am. We have a friend up there that had tumors on his spine and couldnt walk. He had finally taken 10 steps with a walker, meanwhile Im running laps around the halls. Im blessed. You walk by a room and the nurse is trying to coax a patient to eat, and having to spoon feed them. Meanwhile I walk outside and eat whatever I want in the warm sunshine. Im blessed. Sure this has been a rough year, and yeah Im ready for it to be over, but there are a lot of people who have had it a lot worse than me. The Lord has been good to my family through it all, and I am blessed. --Jon
