Quick update...Patrick is doing well. His back pain is there but so decreased that he isnt taking anything than his am and pm pain meds. He thinks its more from incision/surgery pain. He is still having problems with walking and numbness. The surgeon did tell us that might be a possibility ..the spinal cord doesnt heal well from trauma so they werent sure how it would react after releasing some pressure. Just to clarify for some people since I have been bombarded with messages...NO Patrick isnt Cancer free..they didnt remove all his tumor. They did a procedure called a laminectomy that removed the outside piece of his spine to release pressure. His tumor has spread to another rib and it is wrapping around his spine. Another thing ..no Patrick wasnt paralyzed...they did say its a possibility due to the fact the tumor is exerting pressure on the spine and he does have numbness. But he has always been able to walk...granted not well but still upright for the most part. I hope I dont sound too grouchy but I thought we should just clear up the rumors before they got out of hand. Patrick would love to see people but if you are sick or have been feeling not so great I just ask that you call of message him. He tires pretty easily and I just want him not to over due it. Thank you to Tracy Clark Burke and her wonderful first grade class for the cards and treats(I might be biased a bit on this class) and to everyone who was sent cards, prayed, listened to me freak out..Thank You! We truly have the best friends, school and community support!
