Quick update: This evening after waking from surgery Brooke was asked to move her foot, pull her toes back (in the flexed position)... And she did it!!! Not 100% but enough for them to feel confident that she has no nerve damage!!!!!! We are beyond thankful for this. Its a small step but its at least in the right direction. Brooke was in an extreme amount of pain this afternoon/evening. We spent several hours in the recovery room trying to get her pain under control. Thankful to her Amazing nurse Pam who stood by her side the whole time, we finally were able to get Brooke a little bit of comfort. She is the toughest kid I know... Seriously, she doesnt cry so when she was almost hyperventilating I knew it was bad. She had several different pain meds, and the staff became very impressed by the fact that she was still awake let alone feeling pain. We finally got Brooke into her room tonight and settled in. Tomorrow I am sure will bring a set of new obstacles, but ones that we are ready to face. When Brooke is up and pain free I plan to sit with her and share all your wonderful pictures and stories. Thank you so much for the continued love and support you have all shown her today.
