Quick update on my ongoing, increasingly bemused interaction with Regions Bank over $3.00. A recap: 1. Did a mobile deposit with my cell phone. Regions app had me take pictures of the check three times before accepting it. 2. Regions later rejected the deposit because the images were too blurry. Even though their app said they were OK. 3. They charged me $3.00 for the mobile deposit anyway. 4. When I protested, they said theyd refund the money. 5. When they didnt I called. They said the refund was processed and would be back in my account in 3-5 business days. Even though they couldnt wait til the next morning to call me and see if the check I deposited was real or not. 6. Since then, eight business days passed. I inquired again, asking if the gentleman I talked to about the refund was either lying or just incompetent. I also explained how I tell stories for a living. 7. Got an email earlier today from Regions. Instead of refunding my $3.00, they gave me two separate refunds of $8.00 and $2.50. No explanation as to why I got $10.50 rather than $3.00. 8. Also not sure why the $3.00 refund, if processed, never went through. 9. Weird that a bank would provide random refund amounts instead of giving me my $3.00 back. But I suppose Ill take it. 10. And this whole story has gotten Dave Barry good. I bet I can sell it somewhere. 11. Especially if I could get $3.00 for it.
