Quickie Movie Review: Painted Skin: The Resurrection. This is the Chinese box office hit sequel to the original Painted Skin, a tale about a fox who became a demon and take the shape of a beautiful lady. Most Asian folklore has story about animal that becomes demon. In the big budget sequel, the Demon Fox trades body with a Princess so she can feel what a human can feel and so that the Princess can be with her lover and not forced into a marriage to prevent war. Sometime, less is more and more is just too much. This movie suffered from what I call Hollywood Action Syndrome. Some of the gratuitous dance and dazzled scenes betrayed this movie which has a very good story and plot. I wish I can give this movie a 4 Star but because the dancing of the wolf clan scene made me laugh so I must take 1.5 stars out of it. 2.5 STARS!!!
