Quiet does not equal weak. My 11 year old daughter has always - TopicsExpress

Quiet does not equal weak. My 11 year old daughter has always been the quieter one of my two daughters. Almost mute in front of others as a pre-schooler, extremely anxious and nervous from Kindy to Year 4 with many remarks or jokes made by others to highlight this over the years. But ... I have come to see this year that her shyness (which she is overcoming with maturity) does not in any way equate to weakness. In fact, she talks regularly in the morning at breakfast about her daily choices to separate herself from the band wagon of false gossip in the playground, negative influences from others and stand true in the person that she is. Mum, I heard this quote: Just be yourself, everyone else is already taken so thats all I can be! I have come to realise what her past abnormal traits have made her into; a young girl who has observed all her life and gathered such knowledge and wisdom already about human interaction, behaviour, suffering, fairness and kindness. This is a girl who would give up her last anything if you didnt have one too. I am so incredibly proud of you. To be standing in your own strength and truth at eleven, despite what everyone else around you is doing, is remarkable. You are small but you are strong, you are quiet but have conviction and you may go unnoticed in life at times because of this. But know the impact you will have on this world by the person that you choose to be. I love you. Mum x
