Quinlan ISD families will be able to take full advantage of one of the most beneficial programs to be implemented in the history of Quinlan schools. Texas Afterschool Centers on Education (ACE) is a structured, safe, and supervised afterschool program for learning and social interaction that takes place Monday – Thursday of each school week and includes a six-week summer program. “This comprehensive afterschool program will require extensive preparation, dedication and hard-work on behalf of staff members, community members and QISD families to ensure its success. Family support and involvement is a key component,” said QISD Superintendent Dr. Debra Crosby. ACE Director, Lisa Underwood states, “ACE will provide extended learning opportunities for children and their families at levels never before available to our families. ACE provides innovative, hands-on activities that will reinforce students’ regular academic programs. All ACE activities are based on research and best practices and will include academic enrichment, challenging curriculum and tutorial services.” In addition, Underwood said, “The overall ACE program is designed to improve student behavior, academics, school attendance and increase promotion and graduation rates to further help prepare students for college and the workplace.” ACE classes will be held at each district campus. Services will include tutoring, mentoring, homework help, hands-on science and technology programs, community service opportunities and enrichment activities, such as music, art, gymnastics, piano, scrapbooking, sign language, karate and much more.
