Quinta dos Sobreiros is a marvelously carved out piece of paradise - TopicsExpress

Quinta dos Sobreiros is a marvelously carved out piece of paradise on the wooded hills between Coimbra and Lisbon. The houses are tucked between woods with endless hiking paths leading to stunning vistas, and orchards with fresh fruit growing sweet and heavy, available for plucking. The large salt water pool is very clean and easy on the skin (no chlorides!). Surrounding towns are all worth a visit, the kind hospitable Portuguese, romanesque and gothic churches and chapels, cobbled streets with flowers and fig trees. Culture buffs should also check out the fortified Templar monastery-castle from the age of reconquista, overlooking the town of Tomar. But the best part of Quinta dos Sobreiros are the owners, Liz and Tony, who welcome guests with warmth, wine and fresh fruit. I hope to return soon for a relaxing vacation. Until then, I recommend QDS to anyone looking to get away from stressed city life!
