Quite an amazing story played out on Carson Valley tennis courts over the past 8 weeks or so. The Douglas High girls tennis team, who claimed the state academic title with the highest average GPA of any team in the state (3.89 for 18 players in a non-cut sport), gritted their way into a state final appearance this morning. While they fell short today (the first time this season they lost a match in regulation play, their two other losses were in tiebreaker rounds against Reno), they brought home the state runner-up trophy, the state academic trophy and a wealth of possibility for next year with 17 of 18 players returning. Congratulations Lady Tigers!
