Quite depressing... The ranking was released in a report published by Save the Children foundation, yesterday Monday May 5th, and was based on a countrys; state of maternal health, child mortality, education and levels of womens income. The ranking which listed 178 countries, saw Nigeria occupying the 171st position! Countries worse than Nigeria in taking care of mothers and the children are Sierra-Leone,(172nd), Central African Republic(173rd), Guinea Bissau(174th), Niger (175th), Mali(176th) and DR Congo(177th). However, Somalia was ranked as the worst nation on earth, occupying number 178th. European countries topped the list whth Finland clinching the number 1 position, followed by Norway, Sweden, Iceland and the Netherlands. Others are: Denmark(6th), Spain(7th), Germany (8th), Australia(9th) and Belgium(10th). The highest non-European countries were Singapore (15th) and New Zealand (17th), while the United States came in 31st place and China in 61st place.
