The foreword was written by EU foreign policy representative Catherine Ashton. In it she set out the long-term parameters of the EU’s security policy. Her introduction, and the fact that the institute is an EU institution, give the study an official stamp of approval. Nice to know where we really stand in the EU. Im sure Brussels is a wonderful place and Im even sure that the vast majority of MEPs are good people but as per usual it is the executive who have the real power, it is the executive who define the terms of reference. While most MEPs are thinking of integration in one way, the executive (who it is clear have been captured by the neo-liberals) think of it in another. At this point I am beginning to wonder if there are any areas of life that we dont have to fight for.
