A volunteer writes: Red is at his door, watching carefully the ins and outs of his ward. He is calm but aware. As I approach his kennel, I see a little tail wag. His eyes are hopeful and keen.He was waiting for that moment, going out, smell the fresh air, stretch his legs, freedom, may be.Red is leashed without fuss. He is walking beautifully by my side or slightly ahead of me. He trots like a pony. His gait is elegant, confident. He sniffs quite a bit his new territory and marks here and there. He does not really engage other dogs but felt uncomfortable with a pushy one. He took a while to warm up to me but eventually came as I called him, sat by me , accepted a caress and allowed me to leash him back. Red seems to like to do things on his own terms….He is a Finnish Spitz, thats why. Red is really ..red, a ball of fire wearing a gorgeous and fluffy coat. Just imagine a fox coming out of the woods... He is a bit on the thin side but healthy looking. Red is not for a first time dog owner.
