R.I.P. Donna Douglas, aka Ellie May from The Beverly Hillbillies. I had never really seen her in anything else until last night. There was a Twilight Zone marathon and she starred in that excellent episode wheres she was in a hospital covered with bandages. They were trying to correct her ugliness with surgery. Then they remove the bandages and its Donna, looking gorgeous as always, and all the doctors and nurses are monstrous. Her voice was so cultured--a far cry from her role on The Beverly Hillbillies. Yet Im told that she appeared as Ellie May in all of her public appearances for decades afterwards. Anyone know the tales on that? At any rate, she was a beauty and a talent and I never knew of her depth until last night. A spooky coincidence right before she passed.
