R.I.P. Grams Evelyn H. Reitz Obituary Evelyn H. Reitz, 85, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Wednesday morning at home after an illness. She was the wife of Charles D. Reitz Sr., who died Aug. 3, 1995. Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Carl and Helen Birtell Gaus, she was a member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church, Scranton, and was employed by the Marion Community Convent, the Civic Dance Center and retired from Pennswood Manor. Surviving are a son, Charles Reitz Jr., New Mexico; two daughters, Diana Howey and her husband, David, Etters; and Elizabeth Whetstone, Falls; four grandchildren, David and Fred Howey, Wade and Nicole Whetstone; four great-grandchildren, Abigail, Samantha, Jeremy and Timothy Howey; four sisters, Ethel Parry, Scranton; Carol Parry and her husband, Fred, Scranton; Helen Gaus, Elmhurst; and Sharon Bittenbender and her husband, Fred, Dickson City; five brothers, Paul Gaus and his wife, Joan, Florida; Howard Gaus, New Jersey; Earl Gaus, South Carolina; Frank Gaus and his wife, Charlotte, Tunkhannock; and Edwin Gaus and his wife, Anastasia, Clarks Summit; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Gaus and Harold Gaus; and a sister, Ruth Bosack. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., Scranton, with services by Ruth Lipless, layperson for St. Pauls United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Pauls United Methodist Church, Prospect Avenue and Birch Street, Scranton, PA 18505; or to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes- Barre, PA 18702.
