R.I.P. Paul Atkinson of the Zombies, of the Zombies, who was born - TopicsExpress

R.I.P. Paul Atkinson of the Zombies, of the Zombies, who was born on March 19, 1946 – he died on April 2004. Born in Cuffley, Hertfordshire, and educated at St Albans School, he later became an artists and repertoire executive at Dick James Music, the Beatles publishing company, when they decided to get into producing records and artists such as Elton John, discovering and signing such bands as Elton John, ABBA, Bruce Hornsby, Mr. Mister, Judas Priest, Michael Penn and Grayson Hugh, who he brought to MCA Records from RCA Records in 1991. He died at the age of 58 in a Santa Monica hospital. I used to sit at the desk at Rhino where he had been sitting, before he got sick and had to leave his job at Warner. By all accounts, a very nice guy. When Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent came into the office, the president of Rhino, at the time, escorted them over to where I was sitting to point out a photo of the Zombies that hung on the wall right by me. I believe it was this same photo, or perhaps another one from the same live performance. They ended up moving that photo and my boss stuck a smaller photo of Soupy Sales on the wall in its place.
