R.I.P ~ Sgt. Daniel T. Lee of Crossville, Tenn and Thank You Sir Fort Bragg Special Forces soldier killed in Afghanistan FORT MITCHELL, Ky. -- The Defense Department says a soldier based at Fort Bragg, N.C., has been killed during a mission in Afghanistan. Army officials say 28-year-old Sgt. Daniel T. Lee of Crossville, Tenn., died Wednesday after enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group. His father, Daniel Patrick Lee, told The Kentucky Enquirer that Army officials told him that his son was shot in the chest. He lit up a room when he came in and he was always smiling, said the soldiers father, Daniel Patrick Lee. He had such a positive outlook in life, was very strong and very dedicated to the U.S. Army. We are very proud of him. School officials in northern Kentuckys Kenton County said he was a hometown hero. Lee graduated in 2003 from Dixie Heights High School where he played football for three years. Our hearts are heavy and we are certainly thinking of his family. He was a hometown hero and we are very proud of his service to his country, said Kenton County school district spokeswoman Jessica Dykes.
