R.I.P. shared from The Flash Online theflashonline/site/?p=1551 FOX SOUTH WAYNE, WI – Francis J. Fox, age 86 of South Wayne, Wisconsin died Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his family. was born on Sept. 29, 1926 in rural Warren, Illinois, the son of Raymond and Anna (Upmann) Fox. Dad was married to the love of his life Dorothy Ann Hendrickson on June 17, 1947 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gratiot. He lost her on February 5, 2009. He was a farmer all his life, retiring in 1991. He and Dorothy operated Fox’s Pioneer Museum on their farm from 1974 – 1991. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Francis enjoyed woodworking, collecting and sharing his antiques especially blacksmith made hand tools, gardening, flowers, always remembering loved ones with cards and handmade gifts. He had an amazing memory and loved sharing stories of the past. He loved and was proud of each and every member of his family. Dad collected friends throughout the course of his life and treasured them all. He is survived by two sons: Jim (Mary) Fox of La Crosse, Wisconsin and John (Janet) Fox of Wiota, Wisconsin; eight daughters: Barbara Stofflet of Boscobel, Wisconsin; Linda (W. Chris Hanken) Shultz of Maquoketa, Iowa; Terri (Mike) Torrisi of Orangeville, Illinois; Mary Kant of Janesville, Wiscon-sin; Patty (Tom) Staver of Scales Mound, Illinois; Laurie (Curt) Meier of South Wayne, Wisconsin; Debra (Steve) Weber of Platteville, Wisconsin; and Diane (York) Cherrey of Shullsburg, Wisconsin; and special son, Jim (Big Jim) Doherty of Peru, S.A.; 29 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and sister-in-law Viola Fox of South Wayne, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, Elmer and Cecil; sister, Rose Marie Dower; sons-in-law; Laverne Stauffer and Donald Stofflet, granddaughter-in-law; Amy Stauffer, sisters-in-law; Eileen Weiler and Phyllis Fox-Dower,, brothers-in-law; Eddie Weiler, Homer Hendrickson, and Bob Dower. A Mass of Christian burial was held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 29th, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gratiot, Wisconsin with Fr. Joji Reddy celebrating. Burial was in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Gratiot. A visitation was be held Sunday, July 28th, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Shriner Hager Gohlke funeral home 1455 Mansion Dr., and 18th Ave Monroe, Wisconsin.
