R.I.P. to ALL these lovely babies in this post.... As I sit here and try to pick my words carefully, because I volunteer for Douglas County animal shelter, 770-942-5961, I have to start off by saying I have a plethora of emotions going on right now....SAD, PISSED, DISAPPOINTED, AND FEELING USELESS.... Around late July, I started to inquire what were the plans for the outside dogs, since winter was slowly creeping up on us.. I made a post, asking for who would be willing to contribute items to keep the babies warm and safe, and as usual, it was a large amount of people ready to help.. I also remember sending an email to those in charge, and I was assured that NO animals would be euthanized for the weather... well, here it is, November, and we have freezing nights already. .. The first time it happened, the staff double tarped the dogs, straw in dog houses, zip tied them for warmth, and had heated lights..... Needless to say, I was PROUD of them for being prepared... well, things have changed... for the last 3 days, the outside kennels have been closed, all animals have been brought inside, and most have been paired.... The pictures you see above, are those that were not willing to share their space.... THEY ARE NOW DEAD, WHILE THERE ARE ABOUT 15 OPEN KENNELS OUTSIDE, and will be listed as aggressive.. MY HEART is broken into so many pieces right now......... praying for strength, and the few remaining dogs we have...
