RABBIS JOURNAL (from yesterday): How I know its All Worth It There are moments in each of our personal or professional lives when we know we are on the right track with what were doing. It may be a compliment we receive or seeing the effect of our hard work take shape, but whatever that moment is, achieving it makes us realize that everything we deal with to get to that moment is worth it. Today was one of those moments for me as I spent the day with one of our teenagers, Rahni, who had some time to volunteer with the synagogue. Yes, he worked on some of the nitty-gritty things for our community, like stamping envelopes with tickets to buy $10 tickets for our Rubber Duck Race on December 7th, cleaning last years rubber ducks, and taking pictures of yahrtzeit plaques in the shul. He did these things because, as we talked during our debrief, these tedious activities are critical for a community to thrive and as such can be the cause of much meaning. Yet, it was during our bread and butter activities, like putting on tfilin, or discussing Israel (like we did during #AskTheRabbi today at the mall), or learning how to lift and roll the Torah where the joy and meaning of Judaism really shine through. And at the end, when asked about his favorite part of the day was, Rahni said: Everything having to do with the Torah. Thats when you know its all really worth it. Check out this video of Rahni lifting the Torah after learning how to do it for the first time today! Kol Tuv, Rabbi Ari Saks https://youtube/watch?v=zYwh5RX6suU&list=UUSzEi298ohdtFoQJrmwpH1Q
