RACE AROUND AUSTRIA & TORTOUR The Winner of this years TORTOUR - TopicsExpress

RACE AROUND AUSTRIA & TORTOUR The Winner of this years TORTOUR mens solo category is Severin Zotter (Austria) with an official time of 36 hours 18 minutes and 45 seconds. Previous leader Omar di Felice (Italy) and Zotter had arrived at the same time at the penultimate time station, but with the 15 minute penalty that had been imposed on Felice the advantage went to Zotter. Zotter is an interesting fellow employed as a social worker in street drug work. The long distance cyclist previously worked for a long time as a bike messenger. At the time of this writing Marko Baloh (Slovenia) was due to roll in to take third place. He and the rest of the field have endured harsh, very un-summer-like conditions, with rain, sleet and snow at the higher elevations. Yesterday Strasser’s crew put up a Facebook post in which they listed the supplies they’ve not needed: sunscreen, sunglasses, short-sleeve jerseys, short-fingered gloves and other items are all still stowed away in the follow car. Patric Gruner (Austria) has been in second for much of the race. RAAM veteran Julian Sanz-Garcia who had been in second in the early going before dropping down to fourth still holds that position.
