RACE REPORT: Yesterday’s race was an up-and-down. Some drivers had a great race, some a good and others just had a weekend to forget. Sebastian Vettel, who was starting from Pole, could make a gape to the other drivers just from the beginning. Otherwise Valtteri Bottas, who had started from P3, lost straightaway some places in the gird and had to fight hard, but anyway Nico Rosberg, Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso overtook him soon. While the young Finn was losing place for place, Mark Webber leveraged Nico Rosberg. Adrian Sutil turned his car around, but had pretty much luck! No one crashed into him and he could drive on. But in the same lap Maldonado crashed into him and broke his own front wing! After Giedo van der Garde who was the first driver coming into the box for new tires, Sutil stopped, too. Meanwhile Daniel Ricciardo delayed the cars behind him, until Kimi Räikkönen managed to pass him. Felipe Massa wanted to overtake Ricciardo, too, but was attacked his own by Jean-Eric Vergne. Some drivers, like Webber, Hülkenberg and Maldonado, drove into the box as they wanted to get fresh tires. Pastor Maldonado got an Drive-Through-Penalty As the leading Vettel and Hamilton came in to stop for new tires, Kimi Räikkönen stopped as well, but the Lotus driver had a miserably pit stop and came out 14th! Also his race engineer told him to safe as much fuel as he can. Webber, who couldn’t handle to overtake Nico Rosberg for a while, luckily got it then! Also Alonso driving close to Webber used his chance and overtook the German driver, who went in for a pit stop then. Suddenly Giedo van der Garde crashed into Red Bull’s Mark Webber, whose front wing was damaged, but the Aussie could drive on without any problems. While the Dutch man got a ten second Stop-and-go Penalty for all this, Alonso came closer up to Webber and finally catch him. The Spain was third now. Round 44: Romain Grosjean came in the first time to get new tires. And again van der Garde caused a collision with another car. This time the Caterham driver again didn’t recognise the blue flags and crashed into Sauber’s Nico Hülkenberg as not letting him pass. The front wing of the Caterham fell down and stuck under the car, because of that he had to park the car. Upon that there were yellow flags and Hamilton, Alonso, Vettel and Rosberg stopped for new tires. And also world champions lose there concentration from time to time. Sebastian Vettel veered off the track and lost four seconds of his lead. Then Paul di Resta came into the box for his first and only stop in this race. He got the Super-soft tires. Rosberg also had to stop again because of a mistake he made, but the young Mercedes driver came out 5th again! Adrian Sutil got a Drive-Through-Penalty, because of ignoring the blue flags, during Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso came closer and closer up to Hamilton and finally got him thankfully of DRS and KERS. Again yellow flags! Esteban Gutierrez crashed out of turn one, because of blocked front wheels. Came out of the car without any injuries. In the last round Felipe Massa overtook Lotus’ Kimi Räikkönen and got P8. Sebastian Vettel won the Canadian GP and that for the first time! Next was Fernando Alonso followed by Lewis Hamilton. Red Bull’s Mark Webber finished fourth and Monaco winner Nico Rosberg finished fifth. Vergne (Toro Rosso) crossed the line sixed and attained his best result ever! The Top 10 was completed by Di Resta, Massa, Räikkönen and Sutil. Bottas who had started from P3 finished fourteenth. Räikkönen equalled Schumacher’s record by scoring points 24 times in a row! And Vettel now leads the championship 32 points ahead of Alonso! ~Dewi~
